14th Annual Petit Le Mans Once Again A Thriller

The 14th annual Petit Le Mans powered by Mazda was a classic seven hour / 1,000-mile endurance thriller and one that will be remembered for a long time. The finale for the 2011 American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron has always been a fan favorite and has brought out the best teams in road racing.
Peugeot Sport Total won its third straight Petit LeMans with drivers Franck Montagny, Stephane Sarrazin and Alexander Wurz to victory after an intense battle with Audi Sport Team Joest. The win also clinched the manufacturer and team championships in the 2011 Intercontinental LeMans Cup, as Petit doubled as a round of the ILMC and American LeMans series seasons. The twisting and challenging Road Atlanta circuit also had one of the biggest crowds I have ever seen in eleven years of me coming to the event. Is it because the Audi R18 had its first race here?
