Levi Jones Untouchable at Anderson Speedway

Anderson, Ind. ? Levi Jones was untouchable Wednesday evening as he ran away with the USAC Sprint Car Series Banjo 100 ?Glen Niebel Classic? at the Anderson Speedway.
Leading from start to finish, the Illinois native held a commanding lead throughout the hard-fought tussle. ?It had an awesome car from start to finish,? Jones said of his first series victory on pavement. ?You can?t ask for that very often for a race car on pavement.?
The winner drove the Bass Pro Shops/Beast/Chevy owned by Tony Stewart Racing.
Second through seventh positions was another story as eight cars battled to the wire with Bryan Clauson vaulting from fifth to second in the final ten laps. The young driver gained second place in the last corner of the last lap.
?I knew we had a good car and without ten to go, things got crazy,? he said. ?We were dodging crashes and were able to make the right move at the right time.?
Aaron Pierce took third followed by Bobby East and series point leader Darren Hagen.
Sixth through ninth place finishers were Dave Steele, Mike Ling, Marc Jessup and Jesse Hockett.
Attrition took its toll on the 23-car field with only nine cars finishing the grind.
Hard-luck drivers included Jessup, who had run in second place throughout until getting bunted on the last lap and Bobby Santos, who came together with Kevin Swindell halfway through the event.
