The oddsmakers think this is the year of Kyle Larson. This is the 7th race this year that oddsmakers have named Larson the favorite to win, that’s 58.3% of races. Larson has rewarded oddsmakers by winning just one race.
Larson is given +500 odds, or an implied 16.7% chance to win his second race of the season. He’s followed by Martin Truex Jr., who’s given +700 odds or an implied 12.5% chance to win. Chase Elliott and Denny Hamlin are also in the running at +800, or an implied 11.1% chance.
Ross Chastain, who’s tied for the lead with 2 wins this season, and leads NASCAR with 6 top-3 finishes, is given +1200 odds or an implied 7.7% chance to win. Perhaps the most underrated drive this week is Christopher Bell, who’s given +3000 odds to win the race despite sitting 10th in the Drivers Championship standings.
Quote from OddsChecker spokesman Kyle Newman, “Kyle Larson’s last 3 races have been his best stretch of the season. That’s created a renewed belief in the reigning champion. However, Chase Elliott has been a dominant racer this season, Kyle Busch is on an absolute tear with 5 straight top-10 finishes, and Ross Chastain has been among the biggest surprises of this season. So, while Larson has clearly stepped up his game, it doesn’t feel like he’s on the level of the top drivers this season yet.”
